It's been a while. Almost a full year tomorrow, in fact. I had high hopes about events last year but needless to say, Covid dashed all of those. I am still working on the story and have made pretty good progress on the backbone of the storyline. I don't expect things to change quickly post Covid, so even if events are continued this year due to the vaccines I will not be in physical attendance of any public convention until 2022 at the earliest.
While I was not really active here, I was more active on my Instagram. There were some posts there but there were also a lot of long absences as well. For my own mental health, I took several breaks from social media last year and may possibly take some this year as well depending on how the year progresses. Last year had quite a few setbacks in many ways but it also gave me some other opportunities as well. With so much craziness that has happened, I am grateful to still be here and my heart goes out to everyone that was lost in 2020 and those who are still being taken from us in 2021. If last year showed us anything, it is that we need to work together to bring more positivity into the world.

There are a lot of fun things in the future. I am working on an new story that I want to publish in graphic novel and book form. It is still in planning and development stages so there will not be any updates about it for a few months at the earliest. Once the final edits have been done, I will possibly publish the first chapter either here or on my Ko-fi (or both!). Stay tuned for more news on that later.
Meanwhile, I am looking to table at at least two conventions this year. I have yet to decide on which ones because I need to plan out trip details first. Once they have been decided on, I will announce it. I have a lot of things to finish making before then. Updates could be sporadic over the next couple of months as I may be moving out of state soon. Those types of moves tend to be time-consuming and taxing and with a larger family to move this time it will definitely be challenging. I look forward to the new opportunities though and am really excited for a change in pace. Updates to the site are now live.
Welcome to my new and improved website. Please feel free to take a look around at the expanded gallery and note the new category for the Store. Once that area is finished, it will be announced here and on my Ko-fi and Instagram. If you like my work and want to help show your support for what I do, please check out my Ko-fi page. I have set the date for the site refresh/relaunch to October 1st. Changes will go live before noon that day. I am planning an appearance to Anime Weekend Atlanta 2019 with some friends. Feel free to say hi if you see us. :)
Updates on the progress (mostly sketches) of the new story I am working on will be appearing on my Ko-fi page. My long absence has had a lot to do with several factors. Initially, I was focused on getting updates and new content uploaded to the site. I finished everything, a tentative launch date was set and then I had a string of bad times; a financial setback and several health issues that cropped up over the course of a couple of weeks. I am so done with these experiences and am now trying to get back into the normal swing of things. These unforeseen circumstances pushed back a lot of work I was doing to get to some conventions this year, so I will unfortunately not have any convention appearances this year (as an artist), but I will start preparing for conventions for next year. A new site refresh launch date will be decided soon.
I am currently working on a new story that will eventually be unveiled in comic and possibly book format. I am looking to at least have the first chapter finished by the end of the year. The character designs may start showing up in my Instagram soon enough. I have started a Ko-fi page. There will be exclusive content posted there in time such as art or sketches from the story that I am working on.
I came across the work of Koo Schadler while doing some research related to my medieval painting class during my last semester. I was absolutely blown away by her skills and she has an interesting method for blending the paint layers of her pieces. She works in the egg tempera medium (which I have gained an enormous respect and understanding for) and she even has some metalpoint drawings as well. You can check out Koo's incredible work on her website here.
