It's been a while. Almost a full year tomorrow, in fact. I had high hopes about events last year but needless to say, Covid dashed all of those. I am still working on the story and have made pretty good progress on the backbone of the storyline. I don't expect things to change quickly post Covid, so even if events are continued this year due to the vaccines I will not be in physical attendance of any public convention until 2022 at the earliest.
While I was not really active here, I was more active on my Instagram. There were some posts there but there were also a lot of long absences as well. For my own mental health, I took several breaks from social media last year and may possibly take some this year as well depending on how the year progresses. Last year had quite a few setbacks in many ways but it also gave me some other opportunities as well. With so much craziness that has happened, I am grateful to still be here and my heart goes out to everyone that was lost in 2020 and those who are still being taken from us in 2021. If last year showed us anything, it is that we need to work together to bring more positivity into the world.

There are a lot of fun things in the future. I am working on an new story that I want to publish in graphic novel and book form. It is still in planning and development stages so there will not be any updates about it for a few months at the earliest. Once the final edits have been done, I will possibly publish the first chapter either here or on my Ko-fi (or both!). Stay tuned for more news on that later.
Meanwhile, I am looking to table at at least two conventions this year. I have yet to decide on which ones because I need to plan out trip details first. Once they have been decided on, I will announce it. I have a lot of things to finish making before then. Updates could be sporadic over the next couple of months as I may be moving out of state soon. Those types of moves tend to be time-consuming and taxing and with a larger family to move this time it will definitely be challenging. I look forward to the new opportunities though and am really excited for a change in pace. My long absence has had a lot to do with several factors. Initially, I was focused on getting updates and new content uploaded to the site. I finished everything, a tentative launch date was set and then I had a string of bad times; a financial setback and several health issues that cropped up over the course of a couple of weeks. I am so done with these experiences and am now trying to get back into the normal swing of things. These unforeseen circumstances pushed back a lot of work I was doing to get to some conventions this year, so I will unfortunately not have any convention appearances this year (as an artist), but I will start preparing for conventions for next year. A new site refresh launch date will be decided soon.
I am currently working on a new story that will eventually be unveiled in comic and possibly book format. I am looking to at least have the first chapter finished by the end of the year. The character designs may start showing up in my Instagram soon enough. I have started a Ko-fi page. There will be exclusive content posted there in time such as art or sketches from the story that I am working on. I have lots of new and exciting updates planned for the site this year. Not only will new art be posted, but I will also be launching a new webcomic simultaneously on both here and Webtoon later this year. There will be an announcement posted in The Word when there is a solid launch date, as there are still many details to work out with the story. As far as conventions, I am currently in talks to share a space with my good friends at House of Havok at Florida SuperCon. Nothing is set in stone yet, but once things are finalized, it will be added to the main page under the Convention Appearances heading. Hopefully 2019 is good to everyone. :)
Oh, what a fantastic and excessively busy time indeed. The graduation went by very quickly. I was very happy and appreciative to all of our family and friends who made their way here to help us celebrate this achievement. We got our first degrees together and now our second degrees as well. :) Now for the fun part! We are planning our trips now for the upcoming year. News about which conventions I will be attending will be posted on the home page next to The Word. So far, I am thinking at least 2, but we will see how that goes. Hopefully more than 2 though. :D
Updates will begin to roll out during the next few weeks. I have to get my art space (and house) back into order after being mostly neglected in favor of completing assignments since the beginning of the semester. There are currently papers, books and artwork everywhere and I need to get that stuff cleaned up for both peace of mind and so that I can start scanning or photographing things to upload. In the meantime, some in-progress sketches will be posted to my instagram. The semester is over! It has been a really rough go this time, with having a baby and all. I have a bit of free time coming up so updates will finally start rolling around. I am partially sad because my favorite professor is leaving, but more happy that he is leaving to further his artistic career. Unfortunately, he is the only advanced drawing and painting teacher in my school, so I'll kinda be stuck class-wise until a new professor is chosen. Aside from that, lots of new stuff needs to be photographed and scanned in. It will take a bit. Plus there will be at least a couple of non-school related art going up soon.
My son was born in February, after his original due date. He is such a little sweetie, but he keeps me super busy. Maternity leave has come and gone and I am just as busy. Well, at least the semester ends in early May. :D I have tons and tons of new art to upload. Eventually...
I am also working on new products! Sometime later this year, I will unveil my new line of convention gear. I am looking to return to the convention circuits starting sometime next year. Dates are tentative until further notice. Baby Time that is. My due date is tomorrow, but my little one is currently not showing any sign of gracefully making me an official Mommy yet. Oh the anticipation!
In other news, we have moved and I will soon be able to post the long promised work. I now have an actual studio space to work in and I'm so excited for that! |
